The good folks over at ABA Productions are responsible for bringing some of the coolest theatre productions to Hong Kong, with a particular focus on great kids’ entertainment. They’re the people behind the annual KidsFest productions, working with some of the most innovative and engaging theatre companies to bring world-class kids’ entertainment to the city. So when they contacted me to ask whether my readers would be interested in getting their mitts on some free theatre tickets, I barely even bothered to read right to the bottom of their email before hitting reply with a big, fat “yes please!”.

ABA are bringing two great shows to Hong Kong over the next month; Dame Lynley Dodd’s Hairy Maclary’s Cat Tales and Roald Dahl’s The Witches… and I have a set of four tickets to give away for both shows!

In case you’re not familiar with the stories, Hairy Maclary is a scruffy-yet-loveable dog who has plenty of adventures with his four-legged friends who include fellow canines Hercules Morse, Bottomley Potts and Muffin Maclay, alongside dastardly feline foe Scarface Claw (who may win the prize for best villain name EVER!).

Show two is one of my absolute favourite childhood tales by the inimitable Roald Dahl. The Witches tells the story of a brave little boy and his grandmother. This multi-generational pair bravely take on a coven of child-hating witches who will stop at nothing – not even turning small boys into mice! – to rid the world of children.

Both shows are ideal for kids aged five or over, although my brave four-year-old will be happily settling in to watch Hairy Maclary –I may hide behind him if there are any scary bits.
