The Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation Sunday Funday: clearing clutter for a great cause!

Baby T-T and I have just started discussing the concept of appreciating the things that you have, rather than always wanting something new,  and it’s fair to say that his toy cupboard (actually, an insane HALF of our living room storage) is ridiculously full. Seriously, I have to lean against the door to close it and guess what? Yep, 75% of the toys in there never see the light of day as he’s so fixated on a small handful. (Lightening McQueen, Thomas and, inexplicably, a Malawian Airways plane missing its wings, tail fin and wheels. No, I don’t know either). HKAHF_SundayFunday_A2_PosterSo I really love the sound of the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation charity toy donation drive taking place at Stanley Plaza this coming Sunday, August 3rd.

Basically, you rock up with your gently used toys, board games and books, and they’re sold on the day, raising money for the HKAHF who help to provide cancer treatment for some of the most deprived groups in Hong Kong. There’s also theatre and music performances, play areas, art jamming and other distractions that will (hopefully) prevent the little blighters from re-buying the same volume of swag you arrived with! It’s all totally free to enter, and seems like a great way to raise money for charity while benefitting from a little back-to-school space-making at the same time.

If you’ve got more swag than you know what to do with or urgently need to declutter, you can drop off donations from now until Friday 1 August at Suite 1206, 299QRC, 287-299 Queen’s Road Central.

Anyway, I’m about to tackle the big cupboard, although sadly it seems that the Malawian Airways jet is with us to stay…
