If, like mine, your child is in thrall to the
evil, cynical marketeers creative animation geniuses at Disney’s Pixar, it probably won’t have escaped your attention that Planes 2: Fire & Rescue is coming to HK at the end of July. (Side note – why must all sequels contain a colon in the title these days?). The lovely Rach of Through The Looking Glass / Editors’ Ink fame tipped me off yesterday to a pop-up display of Dusty and co. (thanks Rach!), and so we dutifully trudged to Quarry Bay for a look. It’s a relatively small display of characters, along with Lego models and even a case full of novelty Pez sweet dispensers (?), but well worth it if you’re in the area and need ten minutes or so of aircon with a small, bored person.
The exhibits centre on an ‘aircraft hangar’, displaying some of the merch available for purchase in the mall (natch), along with a screen running the (admittedly quite good) film trailer. Of course, this being Hong Kong, you’ll be battling for photo space with every other adult in the mall for a clear shot at the models, but frankly Baby T-T was too excited to stand still long enough for me to get a good shot anyway, so apologies for the bad pics!
The Planes 2 exhibition is at Cityplaza from now until 27th July 2014. For more info, check out the website.
Opening hours: Daily, 10am – 10pm
