Living the dream

When people discover that I work from home, as part of The Day Job, the reaction tends to go one of two ways:

“Oh, I couldn’t do that. I’d be really bored. Plus my office has a Nespresso machine,”

or

“OMG! You are soooo lucky! I would love to work from home! I bet all you do is sit drinking tea, eating biscuits and watching reruns of Keeping up with the Kardashians all day! In your pyjamas! And you get paid! Wow! Living the dream!”

Of course, the truth of working from home lies somewhere in between those two extremes. There’s no commute and no dress code, but you’re also technically always in the office, making last-minute requests hard to ignore, and checking work email part of the bedtime routine. Also toddler + laptop = high potential for disaster, so I actually tend to work less from home, and more from my club, dahhlink, meaning that I do at least have to get dressed.

But in celebration of my fab job, and as an extra-special treat on very rainy day, I decided to live the dream.

Yep, those are my pyjamas, and that’s a cup of tea. The biscuit is just out of shot.

Couldn’t possibly comment on the Kardashians.
